# 169 Crystal River Sprint Triathlon

Crystal River Triathlon today on the Gulf coast of Florida. Swim cancelled due to water quality problem so it became a duathlon; 2 mile run, 15 mile bike, and 2 mile run. 
Bike was a flat course time trial with the only turn being the turnaround so I used 2 gears the whole ride. Average speed was 18.9 mph on the SST. Lots of fast, old men there so I ended up with a 6th out of 8 for my 169th tri. My first 2 mile run was 17:20 and the second 17:07.  Total time was 1:24:13.
The winner, David Morrow, is the current 65-69 duathlon world champion and finished in 1:08:32. 
SCT's Jason Ward got a second in Clydesdale and his son Jacob raced for UCF. Racked by me were a pair of identical twins doing their first tri; Darla and Carla Forrester.  JP (John-Paul Russo) was there fixing bikes and USAT Referee Jill Bowers was keeping everyone honest.

# 168 Clermont Sprint Triathlon in September

Great race Saturday; triathlon # 168! This was the final race in the four event Clermont series and I went into it in 2nd place. Got there in plenty of time, racked and ready quickly. 

Had a great swim, solid bike; hit 38.4 mph off the big hill followed by that inspiring 7 mph climb up the other side. Enrique Mercado got a great photo of me climbing the first hill. Fast run and finished strong. 

Lots of friend there and many won Series trophies. I repeated the third race, finishing second behind James Mayer. He won the Series with me in second; OK since I won last year.  James won 3 of the 4 races this year.
Next up: Great Floridian Tri in October!
